Make the price of every colored gemstone visible to anyone who needs to know it.

Vision

A trade where colored-gemstone price is settled ground.
Neither a dealer's secret nor a buyer's guess.

The logic is ours. The trail is yours.

Why GEMIUS exists.

Colored-gemstone pricing has stayed opaque while every other asset class, equities, real estate, art, watches, became transparent. Existing references ship as static quarterly PDFs. Index-style sources give numbers without the engine behind them. Dealer quotes vary by multiples. The market has resisted the pricing discipline every credentialed market eventually adopts.

The cost of opacity: a buyer overpays, a seller undersells, an appraiser triangulates from incomplete references, an estate loses money, a collector is priced out. GEMIUS's bet: the market is ready for a price band behind every stone.

The market is ready for a price band behind every stone.

How GEMIUS does it differently.

Taxonomy first. Every gemstone has fifteen attributes the market weighs: from origin and color to phenomenon and transparency. GEMIUS codifies those weights per species and keeps the taxonomy versioned.

Cited authorities. Taxonomy, dependency rules, and editorial claims trace to named gemological standards bodies: AGL, AIGS, Bellerophon, GIA, GIT, GRS, Gübelin, LMHC, Lotus, SSEF, among others, each consulted across the full schema, not for a single attribute. Inline citations, no anonymous methodology.

Bands, not points. Every valuation is a price band, not a single number: ±20% at Pioneer, ±10% at Professional, ±5% at Premier. More attributes tighten the band within your tier. Uncertainty is stated, not hidden.

Uncertainty is stated, not hidden.

Our values.

Precise

"We hold ourselves to a degree of output rigor the colored-gemstone trade has historically resisted."

  • Every valuation carries a variance band that tightens with tier
  • Every attribute is explicit
  • Every input is visible on the same surface as the number
  • We delay launching a new gem species rather than ship a valuation we cannot stand behind

Legible

"What we show must be readable by the person we show it to. Precision is wasted if the result cannot be interpreted by its holder."

  • Variance bands over point prices
  • Plain-English labels beside the trade's working vocabulary
  • Attribute impact shown with the band so users see what their inputs did
  • A Premier appraiser and a curious buyer read the same screen and find nothing missing, only nothing hidden

Independent

"GEMIUS holds no inventory, takes no marketplace cuts, and receives no referral revenue from dealers. We report the colored-gemstone market. We do not participate in it."

  • No "shop our stones," no "our dealer network," no affiliate links
  • Prices reflect the market, not any party's interest in pushing them up or down
  • We turn down marketplace affiliate and referral deals, even when they'd lift revenue, because they'd compromise pricing neutrality

Corporate social responsibility.

Our work is a response to opacity. Making colored-gemstone price visible is the social good GEMIUS exists to create. These commitments hold us to it.

Transparency over opacity. We stand a defensible price band behind every stone, so a buyer is not left guessing and a seller is not left undersold. What was once a dealer's secret becomes something anyone can check.

Cited, not asserted. Our taxonomy, dependency rules, and editorial claims trace to named standards bodies. Every valuation states its uncertainty as a band, never a false-precise number.

Backing disclosure in the trade. Most colored stones on the market are treated, yet retail disclosure still lags. As a neutral information layer, GEMIUS supports the treatment and origin disclosure that bodies like CIBJO, AGTA, and ICA call for. We are working toward membership in them.

Your data stays yours. We hold to GDPR and Swiss FADP, collect as little as we can, and never sell user data.

1% to carbon removal. The colored-gemstone trade carries a real environmental footprint. GEMIUS contributes 1% of its revenue to carbon removal through Stripe Climate, which funds the permanent removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere.

Transparency is the product and the principle.

Sixteen years as a data-product leader in regulated industries. Pricing, reference-data, governance, and structured transparency under regulatory constraint.

The very problem shape colored-gemstone pricing has been resisting for decades.

GEMIUS applies that methodology to 20+ gemstone species: Taxonomy-driven attributes, cited authorities, and price bands that tighten as you fill more attributes.
